Dr. Richard Blue is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He received Christ as Lord and Savior when he was fourteen. He has served in full-time vocational ministry since 1974 and as pastor since 1979. He became the pastor of Walker Baptist Church in 1998. Under his leadership, Walker Baptist has experienced numerical and spiritual growth. The church is in the planning stage to build a Preschool and Children’s Ministry Building to house the church’s nursery and children’s education ministries.
Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from East Texas Baptist College, Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry and Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Richard and his wife, Vickie McInturf Blue, are blessed to have four children: Richard, Jr. and his wife, Renee; Michael and his wife, Laura; Kelli and her husband, Josh; Kerri and her husband, Todd. Richard and Vickie have six of the “grandest” grandchildren a person could have. They are blessed that all children and their families’ are active in church.
Richard’s hobbies include spoiling grandchildren, yard work, reading, traveling, teaching an occasional seminary extension class, and watching sports on television.
Richard’s life scripture is Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
| Pastors Page |Ray McCon was called as the Minister to Students in January of 1997. A native of Walker, he has the privilege of serving many of the families and friends that he grew up around. He received an Associates Degree in Religious Education in 1993, a Bachelors of General Studies with emphasis in Youth Ministry in 1995, and a Masters of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling in 2005, all from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Ray is married to his wife, Sharon K. McCon. They have two daughters: Jeuri Michelle Silk and Samantha Rae McCon.
His hobbies include coaching Track and Field (especially the pole vault), hunting, bowyering, golf, and snow skiing. He has an evident passion for helping teens to grow in Christ and become Christ-like adults.
| Youth Page |Randy Powell came to Walker Baptist Church in March, 2007 as Minister of Education. Originally from Logansport, LA, Randy graduated from East Texas Baptist College (Marshall, Texas) in 1975 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas) in 1978.
Randy has been married to Carol since 1974. They have three sons (Jason, Eric, and Justin); three daughters-in-law (Amanda, Tiffany, and Brandy); and seven grandchildren (Nathaniel, Noah, Reagan Marie, Michael, Gavin, Benjamin, and Elijah).
